For many years, enzyme test measuring CK and CK-MB had been used to diagnose heart attacks. Recently, these tests have been replaced by measuring another protein called troponin. It a complex of regulatory proteins, which includes troponin T (TnT) and troponin I (TnI), and it is a reliable indicator that heart cell damage has occurred.
